Chair Exercise & Sport Science, University of UtahDr. James C Hannon is an associate professor and department chair of exercise and sport science at the University of Utah. He teaches and mentors students in sport pedagogy. He conducts research on physical activity and fitness measurement, academic achievement and comprehensive school physical activity. He has published over 60 manuscripts and has made nearly 100 presentations to date. He has been actively engaged in UAHPERD since arriving to Utah in 2004. He was previously V.P. of Physical Education and is currently UAHPERD President. He has taught and conducted research within schools in Illinois, New York, Florida and Utah.

Steve is a fourth year doctoral student in the department of Exercise and Sport Science, specializing in Sports Pedagogy at the University of Utah. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he earned his B.S. from George Fox University in Sports Medicine, and his M.S. in Exercise and Movement Science from the University of Oregon. Steve’s background includes 14 years teaching K-12 Physical Education along with 5 years of college teaching plus several years coaching basketball and track. He has presented at numerous state and national conferences including a continual “series” about different instructional models for physical education. His research interest includes curriculum development using various instructional models and technology and is currently preparing his dissertation, “Implementation of a Personal Fitness Curriculum Using the Personalized System of Instruction Model”.
Steve is also a top level Scottish Highland games competitor and has presented and worked with physical educators in ways to incorporate the games into PE curriculum. Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, and can be spotted competing in Scottish Highland Games throughout the Salt Lake Valley and Western United States.

Bio: Dr. Tim Brusseau is the Director of Sport Pedagogy and Physical Education Teacher Education at the University of Utah. His research interests include youth physical activity and physical fitness and school-based interventions. Dr. Brusseau has been published 25 times and made over 60 presentations. He is the co-author of Dynamic Physical Education for Secondary School Students and was named an AAHPERD Research Consortium Fellow in 2013. He teaches course on physical education methods, curriculum, and physical activity measurement. Dr. Brusseau is married to Megan and has a young son Cooper. They currently reside in South Jordan, Utah.
